Do I need the National Crane Certification or just the Qualification class?
Certain states currently require a national certification for crane operators. Please check with NCCCO *(http://nccco.org/certification/licensing.html)* to see if your state is one of them. By 2014, any operator using a crane in construction related activities will need a national certification.

What is the NCCCO certification process?

• Core Written Exam (mandatory for all Mobile Cranes)
• Specialty Written Exam – as many as you need can be taken on the same day

    • Small Telescopic (Fixed Cab)
    • Large Telescopic (Swing Cab)
    • Lattice Boom Crawler
    • Lattice Boom Truck
    • Overhead Crane
    • Tower Crane
  • Articulating Crane Options
    • Articulating Boom Crane
    • Articulating Boom Crane with Winch
    • Articulating Boom Loader
• Practical (hands-on) Exam – this is a specialty exam that will be done on the type of crane for which you wish to be certified. The same options that apply to the written exams apply here.

How difficult is the practical exam?
It would do you well to arrange for some practice time. Video examples of each of the practical exams can be found on the NCCCO website *(www.nccco.org)*.

Can I just walk in and pass the written exam?
You are more than welcome to sign-up to just take the test; however, it is highly recommended that you attend a preparatory training class. These exams are extensive and can be difficult.


What does the Overton Safety Training workshop include?
Preparatory work for the written exam, a student workbook for you to keep, practice exams, written exams, practice time before the practical exam, and the practical exams conducted by one of our 7 NCCCO accredited practical examiners.

Can I use an in-house trainer to prepare my operators for the NCCCO exams?
Yes. We offer a “Train-the-Trainer” program designed for companies with many operators who wish to provide their own training. This program includes covering all curriculum, instruction on being an effective trainer, a color-keyed trainer’s manual with tote bag, practice quizzes, all paperwork for keeping records of attendance, and 10 student workbooks. More workbooks can be ordered through our bookstore.
